Founded to serve the growing Catholic community in Lohegaon and surrounding areas, Holy Family Church is a place of worship, peace, and togetherness. Our patron, the Holy Family of Jesus, Mary, and Joseph, inspires us to strengthen our own families in love, unity, and obedience to God’s will.

We are blessed to have parishioners from diverse backgrounds, united by one faith and one spirit. The church is also closely connected with 13 BEC/BCC groups, encouraging small Christian communities to live out the Gospel in everyday life.

HISTORY OF HOLY FAMILY CHURCH

The roots of Holy Family Church, Lohegaon trace back to the years before 1957, when the faithful traveled long distances to attend Mass. A deep desire for a place of worship grew quietly within the community, nurturing a hope that would soon take form. What began humbly—with a home opened for Sunday Mass and the devoted service of Fr. Amalraj of De Nobili—soon became a visible sign of God’s presence among the people. Recognizing this growing faith, Bishop of Pune, Rt. Rev. Andrew D'Souza extended his support, enabling the purchase of land for a chapel. Guided by prayer, unity, and perseverance, this dream finally turned into action, and the construction of the chapel began in 1962.

The Air force officers, band masters and the local people contributed for the construction of the Chapel and completed in 1964. After the construction of Chapel, it was entrusted to the spiritual care of Papal Seminary. Rev. Fr. Kaiser was placed in charge of the Chapel. And later the Chapel was under the care of Sacred Heart Parish, Yerwada.

In 1990, Rt. Rev. Valerian D'Souza, the Bishop of Pune, entrusted the Holy Family Church to the Fransalian Fathers which came under as sub-center of St. Francis de Sales Parish, Shaanwadi. The Following Fransalian Priests were appointed as Priest in-Charge from 1990.

On 1st January 2014 Fr. Peppin along with the parishioners celebrated the golden jubilee of this chapel, Rt. Rev. Thomas Dabre, the Bishop of Pune, was the Main celebrant on this historic celebration.
